If labor starts to become more than you and your partner can or want to handle, if issues arise that you are unfamiliar with and you need know know your options, having the option to call in a doula can help tremendously when you need one most.
Hoping for the best - preparing for the worst.
Doula Insurance provides peace of mind that you can call in a professional doula to come to your birth if you decide you need one.
How it works:
Cost for Doula Insurance:
$250
$125 for "Pregnancy Doula" Clients
Labor Fee (only if you do call the doula in)
$550
$500 for "Pregnancy Doula" Clients
How this differs from Emergency Doula Services:
When we work with people suddenly, there isn't as much time to get to know them and their preferences. Also, we can not guarantee a doula will be available to come to them because we did not have notice for consideration. Emergency Doula Services also cost $100 more.
Hoping for the best - preparing for the worst.
Doula Insurance provides peace of mind that you can call in a professional doula to come to your birth if you decide you need one.
How it works:
- Pay an on-call fee and be placed on our schedule of due dates for Crowning Lotus. You will have the option to choose your top 3 ideal doulas to be at the top of your phone tree, however, these services are provided on an availability basis. The only way to ensure that you get the doula you want to work with is to hire her as your doula - otherwise she can get booked and become unavailable for your date.
- We will create a profile of your basic information and history for the doula who attends your birth so she knows your background, basic personality and wishes.
- Once you are in labor, you contact us and we let the doula on call know that she may (or may not) be called in and provide you with her contact info. Then, it's up to you. If you need support, you simply call the doula you have been assigned to. You will sign an agreement to pay a flat fee for labor support, ONLY if you decide to use it (with the option to break the fee into payments if necessary). It will also describe what you can expect from our services as well as what we do and do not do when supporting laboring families.
- If you call in a doula, you pay her directly within the first 30 days - if you don't, you pay nothing (other than the on-call fee you paid for the insurance).
